Outside her real estate career, Cindi is a dedicated advocate for animal welfare. She founded WAGS Upscale Consignment & Boutique in Tyler, a retail store that funds animal rescue initiatives and spay/neuter programs. WAGS began in 2021 when Cindi and her real estate team began collecting unwanted but still usable furniture left behind by clients after their house was sold. Cindi sold the furniture on Marketplace and through a local consignment store, with proceeds benefitting a favorite local animal rescue. But as supply outstripped that business model, Cindi founded WAGS Upscale Consignment & Boutique.

WAGS now operates out of a 5,000+ sq ft prime retail space in Tyler, selling upscale, gently used furniture and home furnishings, as well as several lines of retail items, including a line of private label jams, jellies, pickles, olives, and barbeque sauces. Proceeds from sales provide assistance to homeless and low-income pet owners with pet food and veterinarian costs, as well as supporting spay/neuter initiatives and the transportation of rescued strays to other parts of the country in need of pets. WAGS of East Texas, a 501(c)3 charity, also helps to provide food and personal care items to Tyler’s homeless and food to pets of the elderly through a partnership with Meals on Wheels.

Helping Pets in Need

WAGS of East Texas

After seeing a need within our real estate clients to clear out furniture they would not be taking to their new homes, Cindi knew this would be a great opportunity to help with the care of lost, homeless, and neglected pets.

This is when she founded WAGS of East Texas, a non-profit boutique whose proceeds are used to help East Texas pets in need.Cindi Featherston-Shields founded WAGS of East Texas, a non-profit boutique, to support neglected pets by selling gently used furniture and other items. Inspired by her connections with the SPCA of East Texas and the needs of her real estate clients, she created WAGS Upscale Consignment & Boutique to provide a luxurious shopping experience while helping animals in need.

The boutique offers a variety of products, including home décor, accessories, bath products, and gourmet dog treats, with all profits going towards helping strays and abandoned pets. Featherston-Shields highlights the importance of recycling quality items, encouraging the community to shop at WAGS for a meaningful impact on local animal welfare.

"My dog, Roscoe, was rescued locally, and we are dedicated to raising awareness for animal foster and rescue," she said, emphasizing the boutique's role in benefiting both people looking for quality goods and pets in need.
